![]() If the entire installation and upgrade route works successfully, it will not be necessary to start from W8.1 anymore. ![]() When prompted to allow changes, click on Yes and follow the onscreen instructions. Double click on setup to start installing the Boot Camp Support Software. I recently booted one of the same 2011 Macs from a W10 DVD. When running Windows, locate the Boot Camp folder on the USB media you created in Step 3 and double click to open it. That's the only way to install Windows on Macs with DVD drives, so that all BC drivers load and run properly. W8.1 was installed from DVD in BIOS mode, by choosing the DVD icon named "Windows" (not EFI) at the point of boot. I upgraded a few other 2011 Macs the same way, and they run W11 just fine. In the end, I installed W8.1, then the BC drivers, upgraded to W10 and installed all Windows and optional driver updates, before upgrading to W11. However I had no time to figure which one. The WDF error is a driver conflict, which is caused by one of the BC drivers. In the second attempt, installing the BC drivers after upgrading to W11 from W8.1, also threw up the WDF error. All seem to through back some message about not being for this laptop. I have tried creating a package via Mac OS, and also downloaded a few different versions I found on the net. ![]() In the first attempt, I installed the BootCamp (BC) drivers after installing W8.1, before upgrading directly to W11. I can confirm I have been using Windows 10 on my 15' early 2011 macbook pro, I cant seem to get any kind of bootcamp to install. I had the same BSOD (WDF_VIOLATION) error when I tried upgrading a 2011 Mac, from W8.1 to W11. Now everything should be working as intended!Įxtra: Also here's a driver to make sure that Windows recognizes the trackpad as an actual trackpad and not a mouse so you can use the gestures bak but they still don't work, what else can I do?Įdit: Ok so I finally managed to make both screen brightness and keyboard backlight work on Windows 11( I'm on a beta build as well), so here's what you do:ġ) Download a program for MacOS called "Bombardier" (basically like brigadier but you use it on MacOS instead and it's more accessible)Ģ) Find your Mac/MacBook model and download the latest BootCamp version (in my case 5.0)ģ) Put the files in a USB drive/ external HDDĤ) (optional) If you installed BootCamp previously uninstall itĥ) Install the BootCamp version you got from BombardierĦ) After the installation is done DO NOT reboot or you'll get a blue screen with the WDF_VIOLATION error, download this driver instead ħ) Go to C:/Windows/System32/drivers and delete MacHalDriver.sys (if you can't delete it rename to MacHalDriver.old for example), then paste the file that you downloaded from the link above I kinda got Windows 11 to work by renaming machaldriver.sys to. What the title says basically, if I install windows 10 everything works fine, if I update to/install from scratch windows 11 these drivers don't work and I get a BSOD loop with a WDF_VIOLATION error, what can I do? I'm using the drivers given by boot camp assistant.
